Hardest Math Courses In College - Just in case any math people would like to share, how would you rank the math courses you took so far from easiest to hardest. While this course is an undergrad level, it’s harder than almost (because i didn’t take every undergrad. I think math logic and algebraic topology are the hardest. The hardest course i took in undergraduate is history of math. The first and last math class you take in college are the hardest i think. Like, i'm not convinced my lecturers were particularly good, and the haphazard approach we took to do carmo certainly didn't help, or maybe i was just having an off semester, but christ it. Math logic is mainly about incompleteness theorem, it’s very abstract i think. I actually thought about holding them over for a while today just to cover shit they should have known in an intro college algebra class. Trying to teach discrete math to some cs majors who clearly do not have the mathematical background for it. Each topic was unique and unrelated to the previous ones, making it difficult to follow along.

These are obviously both physics courses, but (1) it's nice to see how shenanigans math is actually applied, and (2) the speed at which you have to learn/apply/break the mathematics that you're learning makes it a slight challenge compared to any of the mathematics used in the courses. Just in case any math people would like to share, how would you rank the math courses you took so far from easiest to hardest. The only (math) course that i genuinely came close to flunking on.

Just In Case Any Math People Would Like To Share, How Would You Rank The Math Courses You Took So Far From Easiest To Hardest.

I think math logic and algebraic topology are the hardest. Maybe it was cuz of my professors but i felt calc 2 being easier than 3 and diff eq. The only (math) course that i genuinely came close to flunking on. I really enjoyed differential equations and all of calculus, but this course took me for a spin because every week we would cover some entirely new topic of applied math.

While i agree the content of the courses gets significantly more difficult as you go on, i think the structure (being coordinated courses) and teacher:student ratio are what makes the calculus pipeline (and diff eq and la to a lesser extent) so difficult for people (and the fact that most of. The hardest course i took in undergraduate is history of math.

I actually thought about holding them over for a while today just to cover shit they should have known in an intro college algebra class. Also studied math at a different university. That being said, i took ap course including calc throughout high school and passed the ap exam with qualifying results for credit in college to skip calc 1 and 2 and go straight to vector calc. Funny, i am a math prof.

In my opinion, the hardest math class (for me) was an applied math course.
